Jackie Lee
Straight Jazz, R&B, Motown, Pop. Jazz, Rhythm & Blues, Blues, and Pop are the forte of Ms. Jackie Lee as she proclaims the emotions we all have felt and wanted to explain. Jackie started her singing career at the early age of thirteen. That experience was with the three-vocalist group, “Fever”. They performed for many talent shows, events, & cabarets. That experience culminated in a recording session for their original music, “My Heart Says Yes, But My Mind Says No” and “Fever”. Jackie, later as a young lady of seventeen (17), continued her career on tour with the Kool Jazz Festival to Cincinnati and Atlanta where she was influenced directly by Kool and the Gang, Herbie Handcock, Lionel Hampton, Miles Davis, and Patrice Rushen. The professionalism of these artists enriched Jackie’s career and prepared her for participation in the Broadway Play “Ain’t MisBehavin”. Ms. Lee has also performed with the band of U.N.V. during their live taping at The Peacock Café (Toledo). Other venues include Mickey Finn’s, The Longhorn Saloon, Mona’s Riverview Lounge, Murphy’s, Club Penta (Detroit), Mandy’s, Detroit West, and Floods where Jackie Lee performed with Mikki Howard, Joslyn B, and Big Blues Bob with Art Griswald. Ms. Lee continues to perform in Eastern and Mid-Western United States, as a solo artist. Her jazz venues include Famous, Rusty’s Jazz Café, Catawba Island’s, Mon Ami’s Wine Cellar, Toledo Museum of Arts and Girlbar. Jackie has performed for the U.A.W. and Jazz Night Out (Toledo) and she rang in the New Year ( First Night, Toledo). Botanical Gardens summer concerts, Motown Reviews for receptions, it matters not. If you want to be moved by a young, Jazz, Rhythm and Blues Diva stand still in the presence of Jackie Lee around and about this town.
